HOw to display lamp hours (holding the "Up arrow" for 20 sec don't work

Hi fellow groovers, I have a Sanyo PLV-z2 and trying to get the unit to display lamp hours is a real challenge. The Sanyo FAQ says to "Depress the up arrow on the projector for 20-35 seconds. Remaining lamp life in hours will be displayed." Huh. I have held down all buttons but nothing happens. What am I missing here, do I need to be in a menu? Have button depressed on power up (tried that) or what? Looking forward to any suggestions,...
